Regardless of your political views or who you voted for this past November, we will be witnessing history Tuesday, January 20th, 2009, when President Elect Barrack Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America.
It is an opportunity for all educators, but especially for us, as homeschooling parents, to ensure our children participate as witnesses in this historic event.

While the White House is currently occupied by President & Mrs. Bush, there should be some new information forthcoming at any time regarding the Obama transition:

Middle and high school students should be journaling about the election as well as the events leading up to and including this historic event for our country. For younger children, consider *interviewing them* and record their thoughts, comments and reactions and keep as part of your family scrapbooking as well as school records to revisit in years to come. Be sure and pick up copies of local, state and even national newspapers for your homeschool's classroom use, but also as memorabilia to keep for your family.
